Final Holiday Club of the Summer

šŸŽ Friday 11th August was our final holiday club session and we have had an amazing day as our ā€œgran finaleā€

šŸ˜‹ What we ate šŸ½

During our youth club sessions and holiday clubs we encourage the children to taste something new. We have children with limited diets who have tried new foods at every session. Some have now

moved from packed lunches to SYP meals. This is a big deal. Itā€™s a huge milestone for some of our children. šŸ™ŒšŸ»

šŸšØšŸšØšŸšØToday we provided 164 high quality meals at a cost of Ā£101. Thatā€™s 62p per head šŸšØšŸšØšŸšØ

šŸ„žFor breakfast we had a pancake station with lots of toppings to tempt everyones tastebuds šŸ“ What a hit the pancake station was.

šŸŒ Lunch was camp fire hot dogs and sā€™mores which was another big hit. Some children tried mustard for the first time today

šŸ§It was our 5th birthday yesterday so everyone had a birthday Kinder Bueno cupcake from Mimi's Bakes in Sacriston.

The fruit and veg everyone enjoyed today:

Blueberries

Blackberries

Strawberries

Raspberries

Bananas

Carrots

Peas

Sweet corn

Broccoli

Cauliflower

10 of their 5-a-day!

šŸŒ³ What we did šŸŖµ

After breakfast we did some physical exercise to boosts our mood, increase blood flow to our brain, and improve our focus ready for the dayā€™s activities.

We then went on a coach trip to Nikki Noo Nooā€™s Forest School.

šŸ™šŸ» We had an amazing day and the children were beautifully behaved and so respectful and helpful to each other.

šŸ•·šŸŖ² We went on mini beast hunt. We created our own mini beast art. We explored the forest area and nature and went on a scavanger hunt.

šŸŖ› We had a go at building a survival den, made souveniers and learnt how to palm drill. We practiced fire safety and lit our own fires using flint and steel. We made clay creatures.

šŸŒ We cooked hot dogs and sā€™mores on the camp fire.

āœØ Back at the centre we made Glitter Glow Calm Down Jars - for the children to use when they are feeling overwhelmed or stressed. We added a visual sensory tool element; the children all personalised their jars to reflect their individual personalities.

āœ‹ The hands we made are to make a SYCP tree; we talked about SYCP being an extended family and that we all share our roots, we provide branches for the children to ā€œbranch outā€ and try new things and have new experiences.

šŸ†“ Todayā€™s freebies

Everyone who attended holiday club today received a backpack, packed lunch bag and pencil case worth over Ā£40 or a free backpack donated from JD Sports head office.

Thank you to The JD Foundation and Chester le Street and District Area Action Partnership Fun and Food for funding our summer holiday activities. Without your support and funding we could not deliver the best ever sessions to our families free of charge.

ā¤ļø Thank you to our staff and volunteers for being amazing, and being super creative, planning amazing holiday clubs to keep 40 children entertained for 9 hours. We are so lucky to have the best youth project team.

šŸš Thank you to Rayners coaches County Durham England for being so patient with our children and for their competitive prices enabling us to get out and about.

Thank you to Nikki Noo Noo for giving our children an amazing experience today.

šŸ‘Ŗ Thank you to our families for being so supportive and appreciating everything we do.

šŸšø Last but not least, thank you to our fabulous miniā€™s and juniors who come to holiday club and make the day so enjoyable for us all.

šŸ† We really do have the best people in our SYCP community.

šŸ™ŒšŸ» Itā€™s not just any holiday club, itā€™s an SYCP holiday club.
