š©š¼āš« Today was Katieās first day as an employee at Sacriston Youth and Community Project.
š„°šš» The day she joined SYP as a 9 year old junior in 2017, we knew she would one day be part of our staff team.
āļø Following a successful period of time volunteering in our mini junior session and holiday clubs. Katie today started her journey on our successful World of Work employability programme for young people aged 13-16.
š š§āāļøOver the next three years Katie will learn about: the role of a youth worker, employment law, professional conduct in and out of the workplace, what an employer expects from an employee and what an employee should expect from a good employer.
She will:
āļø Have regular 1:1s/supervisions
š Have annual appraisals
šāāļøšāāļø Participate in team meetings and team training days.
šØāš©āš§ š· With support from her parents Katie will learn how to budget, start saving and manage her new disposable income.
š Katie has already started building an impressive CV through her Continuous Professional Development as a volunteer and has attended Health and Safety training, Safeguarding training and fire safety training. Tomorrow is Mental Health first aid training and then First Aid the following weekend. Once she is 14 she will be able to gain accreditations for the training she attends.
šš»šš» Well done Katie. No one deserves to wear the SYP uniform more than you šš»
šØš¼āšš©š¼āšEveryone who has been employed through our World of Work programme have continued to work for SYCP and gained secondary employment whilst continuing their education through college and university.
šš» At SYCP we do things differently and dare to go where most other employers are scared to go.
